This volume goes a long way in bringing Jung's work in to a philosophical and psychological context that is useful to practitioners in the field and scholars. By introducing the lens phenomenological inquiry Brooke is able to take Jung's often mystical and work and bring its insights back to the world. Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of Jung, but this volume helps address some of the difficulties that arise from attempting to apply his work.

I had the good fortune of studying under the author and the author of the foreword. Brooke clearly shows the common ground between the qualitative methodology of existential phenomenology and Jung's methodology, both giving primacy to lived experience over allegiance to conceptual formulations. In exploring this common ground, Brooke gives an invaluable means for refining and continuing Jung's work, honoring the psyche.

Avoid this 2009 edition. It has numerous typographical errors, to the point of being almost unintelligible at times. The original 1991 edition has been updated but me, the author, and republished by Routledge as a Classic Edition in 2015. Please purchase that copy. It is also less than half the price that I see asked for a used copy of this awful edition. I would like to give the Routledge edition 5 stars. :) Roger Brooke, Ph.D., author.

Perfect for someone new to the topic who is looking for a high-level overview leavened with a bit of humor. The book includes a short bibliography and plenty of references to weightier tomes.

The book really does not break any new ground but the absolutely maddening thing about it is the author's writing style, which comes across as a grandpa crashing his teenage grandchildren's swim party and trying to be hey, totally groovy. Phrases such as "If chimps had wheelie shoes, you'd think Jane Goodall would have said something", "The Red planet wasn't always as dry and cold as a frozen saltine", and "...pressures that would pop your head like a grape" assault the reader on almost every page, peppered with far too many instances of "cool" and "awesome". I love books about this subject matter but the forced nerdiness of this author's writing style eliminates him from my reading list.

The book covers the subject very well in a non-technical manner and with a healthy sprinkling of humor. Very pleasant and informative read.

The book is really fantastic. I was struggling to learn and understand the diffraction methods - indexing a pattern, travelling from one zone axis to another, reading a stereographic projection - and this book really saved me all the time. Better than William and Carter.

An excellent introduction to the topic and also serves as great reference material.

The book is good for both beginners and advanced TEM students or researchers. I like it because it's easy to read and the content covers most of the basic applications of TEM.

I have bought the second edition years ago, and since then have been usin repeatedly. This text is deep in physics behind the TEM image formation and relatively concise in math. Application examples are also described in detail. To follow up, I also recommend Kirkland's book and Egerton's book.

I like it so far it's ok! Better for teens but still fun. The conditions were good! Not new, it did have little marks on the cover do to bending the page. But it was still good. For a $1.00 its o,k!

This book's directions are not as step by step as my 13 yr old would like. It does require you to draw designs so you need a little talent. My daughter isn't so good with that but there are a few things she can do.

Not a primer for the SAT or something deep and meaningful.. we're talking teen girls here... primarily the 12-16 age group.I was reading some of the other reviews and looks like either the purchasers were single, middle-aged cat-ladies looking for an academic quiz book to take to restaurants when they eat alone (which I'm bankingis pretty often, or middle-aged women wanting a book to discover themselves, which why they would get a 'teen' book is beyond me.Even the front cover sums it up... quizzes about friends, fashion, boys, etc....Thus said, my step-daughters loved this book. It brought lots of giggles and entertainment. Totally worth it since I'm new to the 'teen girl' scene (I have teen boys...completely different species).

It is a fun book with lots of info about you. I enjoy to retake these tests over and over again.

If you think that this book will help you find your true self, you're wrong. It's filled with quizzes that aren't original and will leave you wondering why you bought this book in the first place.

This book isn't as bad as some of these girls would lead you to belive. It's not ment to help you find the inner you it's to have fun and it does that very well. I had my friends on there hands and knees wanting me to lend it to them. If you just want to have an awsome time this is the book for you!!
