If you are looking for a practical, no nonsense guide to raising a pack of canines to pull something heavy for you- this is it. An easy read with informative content, that does not go into exhaustive detail but gives you the tools and/or knowledge it takes to run a kennel of athletes.If you are a 'behind-the-scenes-phile' like me, with a love of the outdoors and a fondness for life in extreme climates, curl up with this easy to read mini-manual of sled dog life in the Great White North straight from one of the greats.

My first read on Sled dogs. Seavey is up front and not very PC. Just what I like. I am someone who has trained many retrievers for competition and do not think this book will help me on that, but I wasn't looking for help with that portion of my life. My background does give me the impression that author understands dogs quite well and is good at what he writes about. Do not expect a instruction manual on how to dabble in sled dogs. He seems to have only one goal, and that is to win, or at least be competitive, in the 1,000 mile Iditarod Dog Race. There are no half ways with a mission like that. If that is your aim, this a absolute must read. If not, still a fun read and you will know more about this unique and interesting obsession. Book lists authors accomplishments, but since published one of his sons (Dallas Seavey) won the 2012 race and became the youngest winner ever. It sure seems he is staying current with the evolution of this sport.

Mitch Seavey knows how to train dogs, and even though this book is a 'good read' for any mushing fan, he goes 'all out' in sharing his ideas of what works and what doesn't in training sled dogs for distance racing, particularly the Iditarod. Reading it is like sitting in a room in Alaska chatting with Mitch. If you like to 'talk dogs', you'll love this book.

I thought it was very good. He is very honest and like another reviewer said not cotten-padded or wool-wrapped! I got a lot out of what he has said about training methods and his training tecniques have greatly improved my team. The book was soooo funny! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their team.

An excellent book from a dog driver that has forgotten more than most people will ever know. Its an honest account of one mans training techniques and his views on the training techniques used by others.Reading it is like hearing him speak it, its not a fluffy, cotton wool wrapped sanitised account, its a down to earth, this is how it is type of read, and all the better for it I say. Written with a sense of humour that can be fully appreciated by anyone that has ever been behind a dog team.A brilliant book that made me laugh out loud (especially the chapter on Velcro). Worth every penny and even better the second time you read it, which you will.. I can almost guarantee it.

One Of the very best dog books I 've ever read.I recommend it to all dog owners.

There are sadistic elements in the book. As another reviewer mentioned, Mitch Seavey tells people to beat dogs who misbehave. He also advocates that people perform an act that could easily result in a dog's paw getting burned. Seavey says to trim the hair on the bottom of the dogs' feet even with their pads to prevent ice balls from forming. He says that after you've trimmed the hair you need to 'candle' their feet, or singe the ends of the hair that you trimmed. Seavey wrote: "My boys are always looking for faster ways to do their chores. I suppose that is why they started using a propane torch to 'candle' dogs' feet. That in turn explains why, upon entering the shop one winter's day, I observed the back half of my best leader apparently going up in flames. This gives a whole new meaning to the term, 'Put the dog out, son!" Singing the hair is totally unnecessary and puts the dog at grave risk for having his paws burned.Mitch Seavey tells people to punish their dogs for not eating everything in about 30 seconds. He wrote: "If the dog doesn't eat everything in about 30 seconds, do not just leave food laying around thinking he may eat more at a later time. Take the food away. Give the dog only clear water the next day and half rations the following day. Resume regular feeding the fourth day." This is harsh punishment.On page vi, there's a photo of dogs going up a hill that has a 45 degree incline. The caption says, "Fourteen dogs pull the four-wheeler up a hill in first gear with the motor off." On page 81, you'll read these words from Mitch Seavey: "If you drive your truck up the hill in four-wheel-drive, then the 16-dog team should be able to pull a 300cc four-wheeler up it. Make them pull it up there, step by step, creeping up hill until you level out and speed up." He goes on to say that by forcing dogs to pull a 300cc four-wheeler up to the top, "you are teaching the dogs that there is no obstacle or situation that arises, no circumstance under which they are allowed to stop pulling forward."Seavey calls the dogs "running, pulling, machines," "knuckleheads," "bums," "lunk-heads," etc. He has no empathy for the dogs he punishes so harshly.

I really really like this book for the examples it shows, and the tiny bit of technique. I would give it a 5 if there were not so many places where you are looking at the small design elements that define a particular style and then turn the page to find completed layouts and illuminations. It's like that cartoon. page 80-81- "then a miracle occurs" -page 82-83. I'd really like a couple pages of how to lay out the geometric framework for each style in between. I am assuming it is a combo of circles and squares, as shown for a couple of the designs in the back of the book, but have not hit upon the right combos yet. [...]

This was a heck of a hard book to get but I finally nabbed it. I do illumination which is sometimes in the Arabic style and it seems this book has lots of tips for someone like me. Rare to find this type of thong in English.

This book was a gift for a granddaughter who is majoring in Islamic Artin graduate school. She was very excited to read it and continues toenjoy it.

After Roger Priddy workbooks We became fan of Carson-Dellosa books. It's amazing. To teach a child how to read or spell, first you have to make sure he/she knows how each letter sounds, then only he can spell or read a word..gradually sentences perfectly. We searched for a phonics book and this book we found quite interesting and we were 100% right choosing this book for our 3.5 yr old kiddo.The best features-It's a 60 educational practice page book.In each page there are some pictures given where you have to name the picture and then circle the picture that begins with a specific letter sound.Sometimes you have to join the same first letter pictures with lines. Working on the pages is fun and really enjoyable.Besides fun , this workbook is educational in true sense, as my kid now confidently tells the each letter of a word just hearing the sound of each letter of a word.There are scopes for tracing letters also which is quite good, it also encourages writing letters in this way.This book also emphasizes on words with short vowels a,e,i,o,u..The child can learn vowels as well as its sound.The most rewarding part is gold star pages.. where from your child can get a gold star sticker and stick it on the page as soon as he/she completes it perfectly.My kid enjoys learning with this book and she loves her lesson with it.I will say, this book is the first and most valuable step toward learning how to spell or read.

So far our experience is that kindergartners are expected to already know what is in this book. A lot of this was taught by our school district to the early education/pre-k kids. It's definitely a little simpler than I expected, unfortunately. There are only a few pages like the front shows. The majority of the pages are "circle or draw an x on pictures that start with letter __" type exercises. Only the last 5 or so seem to deal with writing in letters in words.That being said, if your kiddo (at any age!) is not comfortable with sound recognition this could help. If they are already very comfortable with their letter/sound recognition then I'd go for something a little more complicated.For the price, it's pretty reasonable. We're about a third of the way through so far, and my pre-schooler loves the gold stars at the back. They have motivated her to keep working for each page, but I can see her losing interest soon since it's pretty easy and repetitive.

I bought this book for my 4 years old son, who is very interested in alphabet activities. In the daycare, they do a lot of similar exercises and at home he wants to practice some more. For that purpose, this is a really good book. It starts from A and goes through all letters of alphabet.For each letter there are 2 pages of activities: one requires the child to find all the objects that start with that letter among a group of objects and the other one finding the only object in a group of three that begins with that letter.After every 10 pages or so there is a general activity page where small pictures are accompanied with three letters and the kid is required to find the correct letter that the object in the picture starts with. These pages cover all the letters up to that point.The last pages, after all the letters are covered, are another group of activities which require finding the middle missing letter or recognizing the whole word among similar ones. This require more skill than the first set of activities and therefore a kindergarten student would do it better.The pictures are repeated a few times for different activities and this ensures the child to build some new vocabulary. For example my son did not know the word 'can' as in canned food and after I told him and he came across a few more times he was easily noticing it. There is a little entry in the F section that made me laugh. When doing this book with my daughter. I would tell her the letter, then make the letter's sound for her. So.. F, "fuh"...... get to the page where your child circles all of the pictures that start with an F. I do the F sound for her... then say what the picture is and ask her to repeat it and if it starts with it or not.Welp..... just take a look at the bottom left corner of the page. Say "Fuh" then say what the picture is........I didn't catch it when I said it, but I got wide eyed then burst out laughing when my 4yo daughter repeated it.

My 9 year old grandson has been using this in church on and off for at least a year now and enjoys it. He can figure out a lot of the words by himself and can usually get the others with some hints. Once in a while there are words I can't even figure out, so it's fun and challenging for all ages. I like that each page has a specific "theme" which once you've figured that out it helps in figuring out the words. There are so many puzzles that this will last for quite a while.

Christmas gift for my boyfriend's daughter. We always did word scrambles in dry erase markers on the bathroom tile so I figured she'd love this book and she does! great activity for kids, requires using your brain, always a plus when too frequently they love to zone out in front of a screen.

Excellent. My 8 year old granddaughter liked it. Love the way each puzzle was a different subject.

I bought this for my 8-year-old granddaughter. She, her aunt, mother and I sat around the kitchen table working on it. Some of the scrambled words were challenging for us all. Each page starts out with easy words, and they get progressively harder. We all love to play Scrabble, and this book is good practice for that. You won't be disappointed with this book.

The first ones on each list are easy and then they get harder. Six year old can do first 4 or so and then we have to help. Fun!

Not too hard for my 7 yr old to try on his own but still challenging enough to be worthwhile!

Love the content, but the e-book/pdf version I am reading changes font & style constantly (in the middle of a sentence) making it difficult to focus and challenging to read. Also bought the audible version because the e-book was giving me headaches. LOVE the audio version!!!

It was short read..Disliked some of the action points because no examples were given. Seems like it was written for a seasoned salesperson as a refresher. If you got rid of the notes and action steps, the book could have been about 25 pages. His book can apply to any sales technique. I still got value from some of it and will add it to my library..

This book is a must if you have EVER been afraid of sales! He gave me practical steps that broke right through the mindset that made me afraid to "sell" somebody!!

The story focuses on Izumi Sena, an otaku fan of anime/manga [especially magical girls genre] aspiring to be a manga artist [despite a lack of skill] born into a celebrity family, and Ryoma, a one-time past co-actor Izumi meets when they were young for a commercial turned into an A-list actor, and the trials and tribulations they must go through keeps pulling them closer and closer together. The first volume focuses mostly on introducing the main two leads and how they met initially in the past, Izumi’s family background and their dynamics, Izumi’s aspirations and obsessions and Ryoma coming to terms and accepting his feelings for Izumi despite knowing he’s boy after thinking for so long Izumi was a girl. The overall tone of the story though is very light, cute, silly and fun, so not overly serious.Both lead characters are likeable and cute and the author does a great job in presenting the characters and showing how they became that way. Izumi will initially come off as very spoiled and childish but as the manga progresses you find out it’s due to how he was raised and sheltered [specially by his older brother Shogo and Rei, a manager to the family agency]. Izumi for the most part is somewhat of a reflection of how youth idealizes careers, goals and future. Ryoma on the other hand is a little more grounded then Izumi, at least in regards to the idea of working hard towards feasible goals.The art is great. I find Eiki art to be somewhat distinct compared to other yaoi artist in regards to the character designs [especially how she draws the faces]. In this volume there’s sexual activity, however, it’s used in a way to develop the storyline, not just for the sake of throwing it in.If you enjoyed Junjou Romantica or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, I highly recommend picking up Love Stage. It’s a charming yaoi love comedy and endearing characters and nice art.

Typical manga: Assertive man and submissive man. Love and struggle from partners.Good parts: Super cute, plot is good and interesting, main characters compliment each other, and one is attractive.Bad part: The submissive guy is TOO feminine. They wrote his parts as if he was a girl 87% (made this number up) of the time and he's drawn VERY girly. It's kind of part of the plot, but still. Good yaoi manga.

I decided to indulge and purchase volume one of the Love Stage series. After seeing the anime I had to see what differences or enahancments the manga had to offer. I was not dissapointed. The cover in itself is bright and eye catching. The artwork inside is breathtaking and very reminiscent of the anime art style. This volume gives a nice intro into the series and definitely left me wanting to read more. As an avid reader of yaoi manga I definitely recommend this series for newbies and veterans alike.

I've loved this manga since I could only get it in fan translations. I'm so happy to see it released on Amazon kindle. I look forward to more being released!

Great story with lovable characters. Izumi is adorable as hell and I can't blame Ryouma for falling for that cutie. Can't wait to see how things will work out for them.

Poor kids, they have such a hard time of it since they really don't start out gay. Absolutely hilarious. I love this series.

I love reading Love Stage!! It's such an interesting read with a few good sex scenes later on in the volumes. I was so excited to find out you can buy the book in English. I already bought volume 1 volume 2, and volume 3!!!
