while i did order the cheepest used one the slip on cover was torn. tape fixed that right up. i found no other problems with this highly informative book and an injoying it thourghly

It's ok for learning how to draw the folds in characters clothes, but you will only benefit from drawing girl characters. This book is 99% based on women characters, which is ok, but, I think one would benefit more if they had more men in it. I'm not to crazy about the character designs, but I do like that you get to see how the clothing would fit if you were sitting or standing a specific way. The book consists mainly of underwear and sleep wear, which is fine if you want to draw something like that in your manga. All in all, If you are looking for a book that gives you a run down of both sex's in their clothes, then I do not recommend this book. If you are ok with the book being mainly women, then this is a good book for practicing on your folds in clothing.

First let me state that this book is primarily for intermediates and up. This book is definately not for those of you looking to be pulled by the hand (nor for that matter are most of the How To Draw Manga books). They expect you to be observant and learn from the visuals given so even beginners can pick up this book and learn the basic THEORIES of folds as it only briefly touches on drawing the folds.If you're looking for a wide variety of clothes, this also isn't for you; however, it does explain the different lengths and shapes that clothes can take and you can merely crop the pants to make shorts and the same for skirts.If you can draw clothes (or you plan on getting the HTDM: Costume Encyclopedia set) and can apply the theories of this book to them, then this is definately for you. With all poses and clothes you can expect to see multiple views to show the differences in folds between different perspectives.Be warned though, if you aren't looking to see underwear, with the majority being females', don't complain when you buy this book.All in all this is a great book that will definately aid in your progression as a manga artist.

...you're looking to depict your characters primarily in one set of pants, a skirt, one loose shirt and a leather jacket...and only if they're female. I bought this book thinking it had more information on how to draw clothing in general (folds, drapes, wrinkles) but the book only very lightly touches on that subject for about two pages in the beginning of the book. It's predominantly a "pose file" and there are other much better pose file books you can find.A lot of the "How to Draw Manga" books seem to assume you're already an artist of some skill and training, so this book is definitely not for beginners. If you're the type that can learn by sight alone, by all means, give it a try. Otehrwise I'd suggest going with a more basic instructional.

Most people are complaining that the book is about drawing girls in underwear. (Granted, what book isn't?) But it's also good for seeing how a movement changes the entire model. There are many good angles that most people don't think to draw. Like all tools, it's in how you use it.

Uh, a very detailed under garment section, with the rest of the book lacking slightly. There are pages of different versions of bras and underwear, but no help on drawing actual skirts, no step by step guides, just a picture that you observe and copy from. It was alright, definately helpful, just not extremely helpful.

This is a remarkable and interesting book about human consciousness. Really - it is much more interesting than it sounds like it would be. This is not a New Age-y manifesto but a amusing trip through sleep and waking life.It is written by a journalist, not a scientist or doctor, and it has a fun, quirky style with a lot of humorous comic book style diagrams.The first, most interesting, half is about sleep. Different stages of sleep and types of dreams. The best parts are the sections about lucid dreaming and the watch. I am a person who strives to achieve lucid dreams and I liked the stories about people who are tremendously successful lucid dreamers, and ways to improve the chances of having lucid dreams.The section on "the watch" changed the way I looked at sleep. Our modern expectation is that we will have an Ambien night - go to bet, konk out, and wake up in the morning remembering nothing of the night while we were asleep. Historically, the author tells s, people fully expected to lie awake for a while in the middle of the night. It turns out that this is, to quote the Talking Heads, a "good place to get some thinking done."This book has actually changed my life, in a sense, because I now no longer dread lying awake for a while in the middle of the night, but see it as a positive thing. Plus, f you no longer fear "the watch" it doesn't last as long. If I'm not afraid of being awake for a while I get back to sleep much more quickly.The second half on waking consciousness, regrettably, was not nearly as interesting.But seriously, I would highly recommend this book to anybody who ever sleeps (or is awake). Ha ha - sleep is a huge part of our lives, but how much do we even know about it?

Jeff Warren is an interesting dude. The Head Trip is a book about states of consciousness. The difference between this and other books is the author's style and the amount of new objective research data now available. Warren himself is the traveler and this is an account of his trip through experiences of personal research in each of the states.Consciousness, the focus of the hippy era in the 70's, has come full circle and is now a serious study. Warren recreates the atmosphere of the classic film `Easy Rider' with his metaphors and language. He even looks like Art Garfunkle from that era.His wheel of consciousness is the easiest way for us to understand an incredible complex topic. It gives the reader a linear, tangible series of states that we can grasp. It is illusory; a metaphor that Warren admits towards the end; all states are capable of `bleeding' into the others and capable of being `re-mixed' like music.This book is not easy to understand unless you have some existing knowledge. Thankfully each chapter ends with a summary in the form of a passport with the words `Thank you for visiting the SMR state'.This book combines of psychology, neurobiology and spirituality with offbeat humour. If you are wondering if this book is for you, I advise checking out his You Tube video `The Head Trip - a tour through your mind'.

Jeff is very clear as he explains complex, unclear sleep phenomenon. He has a light sense of humor that is easy to read. This is a great book where personal observation meets science. He is a story teller and I hope he writes more as he takes the reader into the unknown!

This book is awesome. Lot's of interesting information on the stages of sleep and consciousness. The author adds a lot of humor that really makes this book shine. It's full of great illustrations and a lot of new and interesting ideas to explore.

I truly enjoyed reading The Head Trip. I've always had a fascination with consciousness, yet much of the material on this topic is often very "new-agey". This book, however focuses on the scientific perspective (though some of the experiments are pretty far out there!). Unlike textbook scientific literature, however, the author uses personal anecdotes strung together with facts to present a great overview of present and historical consciousness research. The author's smart prose and use of engaging stories makes it a pleasure to read. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a scientific understanding of alternate states of consciousness (sleep, dreaming, trance, etc). I'd also recommend this book to fans of Mary Roach's work, as it has similar style and wit.

Reminds me of a cross between Tart's ALTERED STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS and Smith's POWERS OF MIND. An engaging and educating ride through waking and sleep. I enjoyed it immensely.

Super interesting. I've read this a few times now.

About the Author

Neal Kinsey grew up in southeast Missouri and worked on the farm for his father until he graduated from high school. To make his way through college, he worked part-time and summers as a crop reporter for the USDA's ASCS in Missouri and Illinois. He obtained his B.S. degree in marketing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. In the fall of 1966, Kinsey enrolled in a master's degree program in Food Industry Logistics in Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Here is where he first met Dr. William A. Albrecht, who later provided the technical training in soil fertility required by his present profession. In 1968 Kinsey moved to Texas and took a job with a large environmental research project conducted by Ambassador College at Big Sandy. He eventually became assistant to the Director. Later, he became business manager followed by agricultural operations manager for the Ambassador College Agriculture Department. While serving in this! capacity, he became a certified consultant for Brookside Farms Laboratory of New Knoxville, Ohio. In 1977 he established Kinsey Agricultural Services. His workshops and seminars take him all around the world to train hundreds of growers in soil balancing utilizing cation exchange specializing in building and maintaining soil for quality crop production.

Great information not readily available from other sources. Only problem is the guy repeats himself so much (perhaps unavoidable), that it gets confusing, particularly regarding calcium and magnesium and their interfaces.

Item arrived on time and as advertised. The book is geared to a commercial farmer, but I got some good out for my little garden plot..

At a guess the reviewer "A reader from New York" has never had anything to do with soils and farming. He/she just eats the end products.I am a farmer in Australia dealing with some of the hardest yet some of the most potentially productive soils as any in the USA. This book was recommended to me by a fellow farmer. After reading it I was stunned as to how much sense it made. I can now relate soil test data to what I see in the field and understand why some areas always produce more than others. It's not "quackery" when you can understand how mother nature and basic chemistry allow some areas of a field to outperform others by sometimes 3-1.Readers of this book should be farmers who are willing to take a close look at their soils, work the numbers, think about it and then be prepared to accept what they WILL see in it all.I am by no means an organic farmer, I still use some commercial fertilizers and spray about as much as anyone. After reading this book I have started working on balancing the soil because I see from experience the most balanced soils producing the best crops.I don't really care if Neal Kinsey has a consulting practice on soils. And as far as the book being a bit "light on" for detail is concerned, well it's not. It is a great first step to understanding the soil we grow things in. Fertilizer brouchures are light on for detail.Happy reading and I hope the little light bulb gets turned on in your head like it did in mine.

Attending one of Mr. Kinsey's seminars and visiting with the farmers who have implemented his programs will convince the most staunch skeptic. His concept of "Feeding the soil and let the soil feed the plant" makes perfect sense. All elements in the soil must be within specific parameters for any plant to grow and produce to its full potential. Too much of the research results and recommendations that are available are tied to some corporate sponsorship that is ultimately tied to a product they wish to sell whether it is needed or not. Mr. Kinsey's success in 50 states and 50 countries speaks for itself. If you are a serious steward of the land and intend to stay in business in agriculture this book will help you get the not only more yield but higher quality products from your operation.

This book seems ideally suited for the land grant university student or farmer with a biology or chemistry degree perusing a livelihood in large scale or industrial agriculture. I am a small farmer without a degree but a very solid understanding of bio and chem and I found this book to be a bit daunting. The book starts out with a series of case studies in which the author always emerges as the hero. After the advertisements for his service and all the high-horsemanship you begin to smell the meat and potatoes. What follows is a complicated mess of NPK, pounds per acre and yield. Small attempts are made at including holistic management techniques but they are weakly explained and sparse. This book is advertised to farmers but the chem and bio concepts are difficult and without prior knowledge you will need to do significant outside the book research to follow along. If you are a medium to large scale farmer growing conventional commodity crops, and have prior knowledge to or a significant interest in learning these tough concepts this book may be useful. I would not recommend this book to Multi-croppers, pasture based, organic or small farmers in general. This book made me question the role of leading agronomists in a future SUSTAINABLE food production system.

The remainder of the book is an articulation of further deconstructionists who bounced off Heidegger: Livinas, Nancy, and Derrida. She combines Heidegger and Levinas to present an overall model, which even includes an ethic for a pluralistic society. (1) watch the conscious self be driven back into the explored subconscious of the "mine" by the wound of wonder. (2) watch the self- actualization of the elastic-self climb out of existential anxiety with motivational "opinion-solidifications" that are transferred back to consciousness. (3). Watch the construction of "ethical teleology" which results in the concept of "dis-incarnation". (4). Watch the positing of the "cave-dweller" who posits "process", rather than specific content. (5). Watch the mediation of conscience which is articulated as "contraction". (6). Enjoy all of this important data situated within Hegelian psychology; a reaction against Hegel - yes; but nested within that framework.put your opinions to rest and tackle a properly prepared and edited manuscript that will offer even a centered Hegelian like myself - much enjoyed learning. I strongly recommend Rubenstein's book.

A most original and thorough undertaking. Rubinstein explores Heiddeger's suggestion of a "new beginning" and works it wonderfully through the writings of Levinas, Nancy( who I just discovered) and Derrida. The conclusion is somewhat undetermined although poetic, being this to be expected as the subject itself so requires. All in all a difficult read worth the effort.

This book has it's merits but it is not the best text for the ABPN Epilepsy Board Examination. As others have already stated it badly needs more editing. I recall questions about autosomal recessive conditions in pediatrics and inheritance of JME that are outright incorrect. The strength of this book is that the answers section to each chapter is nicely referenced. It's obvious the authors put a great deal of time into this and it is much appreciated. I actually learned a lot about MEG and QEEG from going through the references. The downside of using it as a text however is that topical information is scattered throughout the book. The major weakness is that the questions tend to be much more arcane than the actual Board exam and the format is not at all similar. For example, many of the questions are "all of the folllowing except" and "which of the following is not." There were very few, if any, of these question on the actual exam. The authors also chose a 4 answer (A-D) multiple choice format while the exam is 5 (A-E). If you want really good, Board style epilepsy questions, Get the 6th edition of Wyllie's Treatment of Epilepsy. The online version contains over 500 questions and it is much closer to the actual test format. I did pass the Epilepsy Board Exam, and this review helped, but my advice for anyone taking boards this year would be to wait for Epilepsy Board Review: A Comprehensive Guide by Drs. Koubeissi and Azar before you decide to purchase Dr. Modur's text.

I used it and I passed. Has very good, relevant questions. As a word of advice for those who want to pass the ABPN's Epilepsy board - I would pair this with the "Epilepsy Board Review" by Koubeissi, and throw in the AAN's SAE on Epilepsy and a few select chapters from Wyllie's textbook.

I think this book is excellent for the Epilepsy board.I graduated in 2011 and been in practice for several years. I read this book ( all of it)and read the comments. I indeed studied the comments and reviewed them few time. There is a lot of information to remember especially those gene names and the medications. You need to study those comments. NOT just solve the questions.I recommend this book highly.I also recommend taking the online questions on The AES. Make sure you study those comments.This book along with the AES website questions is all what you need to pass the board.Thank you for the authors and good luck.

Jiminy jiminy...the questions are hard to answer correctly, but then the reviews and explanations given are excellent, many times, more complete and insightful than other sources.thanks guys.PS. I took the board a couple days ago. Reviewing the questions and answers, and looking it up in sources like Wyllies and the articles quoted, gives you an understanding of the subject.If you just want a shortcut, with questions and answers to memorize, then you may always feel that one question may have several diferent answers. Having used this book, and the Hospital Physician board review for epilepsy, and Wyllies and its 500 questions, and taken the GWU review course, and studied it all for the last year, I felt that I was prepared for the boards. There will be a new book comming out in Feb 2017, from the GWU guys, it should make for a good addition to the tool box to prepare for the boards.There are no shortcuts here, you need to study each item and be ready for the questions being aked in a vatiety of ways.Pradeeps book was super helpful, but more as a study guide than as a bank of old questions to just memorize. I will tell you, this book explains some concepts that for me were hard to grasp in other sources, like magnetic source imaging, polarity of eye movements, amplitude aEEG, and neuropsychological testing applications, to just name a few. But my advice is to get all the sources you can, and study all of them, and cross check, and by finding their errors ir disagreements you super-learn. There are just too many subjective opinions out there to get too hang up on a" correct" or "wrong" answer.

I felt that this book was an invaluable part of preparing for the epilepsy board exam. Some of the questions were more challenging than others, at times quite difficult to choose the correct answer; however, the explanations were very thorough and provided a solid foundation to succeed on the real exam.

One of the best and if not the only fully comprehensive epilepsy board review resources on the market. I have done the epilepsy board a couple months ago and this book was my saving grace

Poorly written and the questions seem more whimsical than rooted in actual, evidence based literature. There seems to be a lack of sincere effort at part of authors, probably in an attempt to publish it in a timely manner for the upcoming boards. I really, really wish it was more useful.

I have one of these posters which cost twice as much as the entire book of them and I think this is a lovely book and a lovely gift item for any woman on your list, young or old. Must love color!!!

Several years ago, I was in a Mardi Gras-themed restaurant and I fell in love with the wall posters plastered all over the walls. In my attempt to hunt down one of the posters, I discovered Andrea Mistretta. I can't even remember the poster I had originally been looking for, I was so smitten!I love Andrea Mistretta's art. Her Mardi Gras posters are beyond beautiful. Even though I have no ties to New Orleans and have never attended Mardi Gras, Ms. Mistretta's vibrant, detailed posters appeal to me on many levels and make me want to visit NOW!

LOVED MY BOOK ON MARDI GRAS

Mistretta does an amazing job of capturing the spirit, excitement and color of the annual Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. Each poster from the Mardi Gras series depicted in this book features an array of Mardi Gras symbolism incorporated into the poster's design. This book provides a wonderful way to experience the vibrant color of the annual Mardi Gras celebration without every leaving your easy chair. Also included is a chapter in which the artist/author demonstrates the painstaking technique she uses to create each of Mardi Gras posters, enabling the reader to appreciate them even more. This is an art book to cherish and enjoy again and again, year after year.

Vibrant, dazzling, impressive . . . anyone who even looks at the cover of this book will be instantly wowed by what they see and even more so when they open the covers. Andrea Mistretta, like many artists, had a wealth of talent, but her pocketbook was rather bare. She knew the poster market in New Orleans was growing and perhaps someone might be interested in her painting, "Mercredi des Cendres." It had been a labor of love and she "penciled, painted, airbrushed, mixing techniques" and added special touches to her heart's content. The surreal product was one that captured the essence of the Mardi Gras, but a young struggling illustrator "a thousand miles away" from the enchanting art world of New Orleans had little chance of succeeding.Andrea sent a Polaroid with her friend, Karen. Perhaps she could sell the painting for her, but instead received an unexpected call from Miss Margarita Bergen, proprietress of Bergen Galleries. "Dahling, I would like to do a Mardi Gras poster with you." This unexpected turn of events would bring her fame and, au contraire, the magic of her artwork would bring New Orleans alive on her posters. The nineteen eighties were kind to both the city and Andrea Mistretta. The spirit of the city was captured in these posters, so beautifully reproduced in this book. In this book the reader gets a fascinating look into her technique and can actually see the step-by-step creation of the king and queen of the krewes. In addition to the full color posters there are reproductions of the three black and white series posters. You'll also get to see some "playful artwork," advertising posters (Miller, Heineken and Amstel), The Serigraph, and reproductions of the United States Postal Service stamps.This is one of those rare books that will WOW you from the first page to the last. I've seldom seen a book with such liberal use of color. Each and every one of them could be easily framed and hung on a wall. Andrea briefly discusses the history behind each poster. The name of the poster, the technique, size and date are included. We get a glimpse in some of these of Andrea herself and her affinity with New Orleans and her life in general. I especially enjoyed reading about her poster "Band of Angels," and the comment she made that "it was truly celestial beings that led me and allowed my spirit to ascend beyond this poster with a very special project." You'll have to read the book to get the entire story, but in the meantime, laissez le bon temps rouler . . . let the good times roll when you browse this mesmerizing book!Book received courtesy of Pelican Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

As a sales trainer I am one of the first faces new associates are introduced to. But once they complete their initial training they are off in the field and over the past few years I've found myself thinking, 'how can I remain connected to them'. I'm an advocate for continuous learning; my workshops can only improve if I know what is going on in the field, but webinars were not the only answer for me.The Social Employee helped me to create a roadmap for understanding the importance of staying connected to internal customers and then encouraging and providing them with the how-to's for getting connected to external customer. Excellent book with some excellent company examples. This book is a great resource for learning about Social Media. The professor has a lot of first hand knowledge of the industry. Highly recommended book.
